Tai Chi, Yoga and Meditation Classes
Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese internal martial art that teaches you how to cultivate the internal energy or Chi. Tai Chi Chuan will provide you with benefits such as increased energy, improved mental focus, balance, flexibility, and an inner calm. Tai Chi Chuan can show you the way to attain harmony and balance in your life.
Yoga classes offer a progression of stretching and meditative techniques available for beginner, intermediate and advanced-level individuals.
Yoga I: This level is designed to introduce a student to Hatha Yoga, regardless of age, size or fitness level. With an emphasis on alignment, this class provides a safe environment for beginning students, as well as anyone with specific injuries or challenges, to learn the correct form of yoga postures. Gentle stretching, slow-paced floor poses, standing poses, spinal twists, breathing, and relaxation are the building blocks of a healthy yoga practice.
Yoga II: This moderately paced class is ideal for those students who have some prior knowledge of yoga. Focus continues on standing poses, twists, seated poses, balancing poses, back bends and a soothing, guided relaxation. Correct physical alignment and breathing continue to be emphasized. Mastery of this level provides a great introduction to Yoga III.
Yoga III: This level builds off the Yoga II level by adding a greater variety of more challenging poses with a slightly more vigorous tempo. Those who want a dynamic level will enjoy the more intense mind-body “work-in/work-out” of this class. More challenging sun salutations, standing poses, back bends, balancing poses, weight-bearing sequences and twists combine to build strength, flexibility and endurance. Inverted poses such as shoulderstand or legs-against-the-wall will be offered. Deep, nourishing relaxation completes the class.
Meditation: 30 minute classes are a time to nourish your inner spirit and exercise your brain. Mindful breathing, guided meditation, visualization, and silence combine to reduce stress or to help with physical and mental pain. Meditation changes the brain.
